Dear Valued Clients,
The U.S. mining scene is currently at an inflection point—interest and investment are on the rise, especially driven by critical minerals essential for clean energy and tech, but permitting challenges remain significant barriers. Recent federal initiatives aim to streamline permitting (like FAST-41), but progress is slow, and many projects remain mired in regulatory reviews and litigation. Overall, there’s cautious optimism as demand grows, yet the industry continues to advocate strongly for clearer permitting paths and reduced bureaucratic delays.
Key takeaways:
- Strong demand growth, particularly for critical minerals (lithium, cobalt, rare earths).
- Significant federal focus on permitting reform, but implementation has been slow.
- Rising investor interest and cautious optimism amid regulatory uncertainty.
The future of mining in the United States is bright—market fundamentals, rising demand for critical minerals, and increased interest in domestic supply chains all signal exciting opportunities ahead. Despite permitting hurdles, momentum is building, and those who position themselves strategically today stand to benefit greatly tomorrow. As the old saying goes, we’ll “make hay while the sun shines,” seizing the opportunity to strengthen our industry, secure our mineral independence, and drive sustainable growth for years to come.
As always, Burgex is here to assist you every step of the way on your mineral exploration and mining journey. We’re committed to working closely with you as we Solve the Challenges of Mining together!
Thank you for being a valued part of our network. We genuinely appreciate your business and are committed to helping you and your projects succeed.
Best regards,

What is Pozzolan?

As the concrete industry seeks low-carbon alternatives to traditional cement components, natural pozzolans are gaining renewed attention—especially in regions facing fly ash shortages. Among these, diatomite, a siliceous sedimentary rock formed from fossilized diatoms, offers a promising path forward. Thanks to its high amorphous silica content and favorable reactivity, diatomite can serve as an effective supplementary cementitious material (SCM).

Every year, claim renewals become more frustrating and complicated. As service providers to the exploration industry, we want to help our clients’ projects progress, but sometimes land tenure can be a roadblock.
Don’t wait until the last minute for renewals—the BLM is understaffed!
Claim renewals are due on or before September 1st, 2025, with no grace period.
Budgeting for renewals:
- BLM Claim Maintenance Fees: $200 per claim
- County Notice of Intent to Hold / Affidavit of Payment: Due Dates and Filing Fees vary by State/County
If your claims are located in California, physical claim maintenance must be completed to remain compliant.
If you have any questions about the renewal process, please don’t hesitate to call or email us. We’re here to help you navigate these complexities.
