With the recent expansion of our team, we are seeking a Senior Consultant who is a true “dual-threat”: a technical expert capable of signing off on geological reports (QP/CP status) and a strategic thinker capable of valuing complex assets.
You will not just be “running numbers.” You will be a lead voice in the company, overseeing geology projects, managing client relationships, and utilizing Mineralocity—our proprietary market intelligence platform—to solve the industry’s hardest challenges.
Primary Responsibilities (The “Seller-Doer”)

- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geologists and analysts.

- You Know Aggregates: You understand the unique economics of crushed stone, sand, gravel, and industrial minerals. You know that location and logistics matter just as much as geology.
- You Are Decisive: You have the experience to look at a dataset, make a judgment call on resource classification, and put your signature on it.
- You Are Business-Minded: You understand that a mine is a business. You can read a P&L as well as you can read a drill log.
Experience
- 7-10+ years of relevant experience in the mining and construction materials sector.
- Demonstrated history of leading projects in Valuation, Market Analysis, Mine Engineering, or Geology.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical or economic discipline:
- Geology / Geological Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Mineral Economics or Finance
Professional Credentials (Authority to Sign)
- Must hold a recognized professional designation relevant to your discipline.
- Examples: P.G. (Professional Geologist), P.E. (Professional Engineer), SME Registered Member, MMSA QP, or a top-tier Valuation credential (e.g., ASA, CBV, CIMVal experience).
QP Status (Critical)
- Must meet the definition of a Qualified Person (QP) under SEC S-K 1300 or NI 43-101 (or be eligible to establish this status immediately).
- Crucial Capability: You must possess the requisite experience to serve as the QP and sign off on at least one of the following key report sections:
- Market Studies & Economic Analysis
- Mineral Asset Valuation
- Technical/Geological Reporting (Resources or Reserves)
Technical Skills
- Required: Deep understanding of the construction aggregates and industrial minerals industry (market dynamics, logistics, and operations).
- Required: High proficiency in financial modeling (DCF) and Excel.
- Discipline-Specific Expertise (Must have one or more):
- For Geologists: Resource estimation and geological modeling.

The Opportunity: Where “Ground Truth” Meets Data Burgex Mining Consultants is the “Tech-Enabled Specialist” for the mining industry. We are looking for an ambitious Staff Geologist to join our Exploration team.
As a Staff Geologist at Burgex, you are the eyes and ears of the firm. You will work at the intersection of traditional field exploration and modern data intelligence. You will be responsible for gathering the “Ground Truth”—the critical field data that feeds our valuations, engineering models, and our proprietary Mineralocity platform.

- You Are Tech-Forward: You don’t fear software. You see GIS not just as a mapping tool, but as a way to solve problems.
- You Are Curious: You are eager to learn about Construction Aggregates and Industrial Minerals, understanding that the economics of a sand quarry are just as fascinating as a gold mine.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or Earth Science (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant field experience (strong internship experience will be considered).
- Technical Skills:

- Variety: One week you might be mapping a limestone deposit for a quarry; the next, you might be sampling for precious metals.
- Growth: We are a fast-growing firm. We prefer to promote from within, offering a clear path from Staff Geologist to Senior Geologist.
Location & Flexibility This position is based out of our headquarters in Sandy, Utah.
- Field Season: Expect significant travel to project sites across the US West.
